Central European Arts Management Symposium 2008

The Arts Institute coordinated an outstanding event of Central European importance − an arts management symposium that took place on the 23rd and 24th April 2008 in Prague. The main speaker was Michael Kaiser, the President of the Kennedy Center in Washington, D. C., who has worked as director of many leading arts institutions and on numerous outstanding projects and is therefore deemed an expert in area of arts management (see attachment for more details).

The symposium was organized by the Kennedy Center and the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, which charged the Arts Institute-Theatre Institute with the organization. Further, the symposium was prepared in co-operation with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in the US and the US Embassy in the Czech Republic.

The lectures and discussions focused on the day-to-day operations of cultural organizations with particular emphasis on strategic planning, artistic programming, fundraising, and marketing and media relations.
