A Dictionary of Czech Dance – Dance, Ballet, Pantomime

The first separate dictionary of dance in the Czech lands. The publication contains approximately 1400 entries, which provide concise information and data on the companies, groups, schools, institutions, and figures connected with Czech dance, ballet, and pantomime, from the 18th century to the year 2000. As well as professional stage dance, the dictionary also includes entries on the amateur, folklore, and alternative spheres. The book also contains 450 black-and-white photographs.
Edited by Jana Holeňová, the publication was prepared by the Department for the Study of Czech Theatre at the Arts and Theatre Institute and by external collaborators. The cover and graphic design are by Vladimír Nárožník.
